Hotel V: stylish boutique hotel in Amsterdam

One of the best hotels I stayed in when in Amsterdam is without doubt Hotel V (that is ‘V’ for victory). Located in the city centre, this boutique hotel is a great starting point for an Amsterdam experience in style. Hotel V succeeded in creating an atmosphere that is metropolitan and cosy at the same time.

The lounge is nothing like the impersonal, lifeless places many hotel lounges are. The round leather sofa, cosily wrapped around a design fire place packed with magazines, is very inviting. The dark colours mixed with art, design, books and funky music give the entire space a bit of a Pulp Fiction look & feel. The bar serves a large selection of drinks and the iMac’s are a great way to comfortably surf the net.

All through the hotel, you will find design and style mixed with the old elements of the beautiful building. The rooms have different sizes, but are all truly nice. Try to get a room directly under the roof, it is the best, especially when it rains and you can hear the raindrops ticking. Bathrooms are comfortable and have a very pleasant atmosphere due to the use of mosaic style stone and dark colours.

Hotel V is a family business run by people who love their job and love Amsterdam – and it shows. Just one thing: if you have small kids or are not capable of walking stairs, ask for an easy accessible room. The charming old building has the downside that many rooms can only be reached by  – very stylish – stairs.

Hotel V holds a golden green key and has a mission to be as sustainable as possible.
