Whilst wandering through Islington in search for all things eco, allmygoodness were excited to discover Annie’s Vintage Clothes Shop. The shop is situated on Islington’s Camden passage. Camden passage is a delightful side street with quaint antique, vintage and bric-a-brac shops.  Despite being only foot steps away from bustling Upper Street, it feels like you have just stepped into the historic shamble streets of Yorkshire with their cobbled streets and charming little shops. The surroundings are therefore perfectly apt for this vintage treasure chest.

Annie's2Annie’s does not disappoint and is just as enticing inside the shop as well as outside. The shop has an amazing collection of quirky and individual dresses. Vintage is fantastically eco-friendly. It means that materials that were once fine and extravagant are not wasted or placed behind a glass panel at a museum; they can once again become somebody’s favourite item of clothing.

The shop is a hidden gem in the fashion world and according to Annie’s they have been frequented by Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Nicole Farhi, Ralph Lauren and Donna Karan. The stylists have found Annie’s to be the perfect place for quirky trimmings, accessories and one off pieces such as feather capes, embroidered shawls, original flapper dresses and bias-cut numbers in fabulous prints. Kate Moss and Pearl Lowe have also been seen visiting Annie’s for the unique and classic fashion.

The shop window is wonderfully displayed with feminine fabrics, a classic Victorian spectacle. Annie’s aim for the ‘My Fair Lady’ look and this is definitely achieved with a display of flowers, flouncy fabrics and wonderful floaty dresses.

There is also a bargain rail outside for those looking for a spectacular steal. In keeping with the lady-like theme, outside there are baskets containing antique lace which range from as little as £15 or pretty beaded wire flowers for around £5, which Annie buys from a market just outside Paris.

Annie'sTherefore, if it is feminine vintage that you seek, Annie’s is the place for you. allmygoodness’s favourite finds were the original Twenties mid-calf lace wedding dresses with silk underslips. These sell for around £200 and could be a fantastic investment or perhaps they could even be the dress you wear on your big day. allmygoodness have fallen in love with Annie’s and definitely recommend a trip.
