We’ve found you a little (or rather big) treasure that will no doubt put a smile on your face: the original-hip-multi-purpose-one-of-a-kind bag by P’ienca Peru.

These beautiful babies are about to become a big hit and with good reason: not only are they the ultimate carry-all bag on any style hunter’s wish list for its design and originality (no two bags are the same) but they fit perfectly in the current trend of slow fashion and fashion with a story.

ClaudineDutch Claudine Verhulst came up with the idea for the bags during one of her visits to her mother-in-law, Helena van Engelen, in the Cusco Valley, Peru. Helena has been educating, feeding and providing medical care to street kids in the Cusco Valley for 11 years through her foundation “Ninos del Arco Iris” (rainbow children). Claudine was amazed by the Peruvian women carrying what seemed to be their whole life with them in beautiful handmade colourful cloths and so the idea was born to make bags with these life cloths so women back home could carry their ‘life’ in a colourful and one-of-a-kind bag. Claudine found ‘mama’s’ in the Andes who look for the cloths and make the bags. That way the cloths are given a new life and the women’s lives are improved. Labels and other extra’s are made by the women from the “Ninos del Arco Iris” foundation.

bagThe bags are fully lined, close with a zipper, measure about 40/60 cm and can be machine-washed (wool wash). The bags can be ordered by emailing your preferred bag (you can select your bag online). Or come to our office this fall to see the bags and place an order. They cost GBP 130 and part of the proceeds go to the “Ninos del Arco Iris” foundation.
