Pollution-proof your skin with Urbanveda

Every day we go into battle with environmental factors such as excessive central heating or air conditioning, exhaust fumes, dust, dirt and stress which negatively affect the health of our skin. Our lifestyles are often mirrored in our complexion. Lucky for us there is now Urbanveda, a new skincare range based on Ayurvedic principles. Originating in India over 5000 years ago, Ayurveda is an ancient health and wellbeing system based around a holistic knowledge of plants and their therapeutic properties.

our-range-by-plants-purifyingNaturally formulated using Ayurvedic herbs, flowers and fruits, combined with multi-vitamins and clinically proven actives, urbanveda helps to maintain skin’s natural balance and making it less vulnerable to the environment by infusing it with Omega-rich bio-oils, free radical-fighting antioxidants and vitality-boosting essential fatty acids.

Each Urbanveda range has been developed to cater to different skin care needs based on the ancient therapeutic rituals of Ayurveda based on ‘doshas’. This is the Ayurvedic term to describe the physical and emotional tendencies in our mind and body. To find out your dosha, complete the questionnaire here. So whether you need purifying, a radiance boost, reviving or soothing, Urbanveda is at your service. Each range contains a full regime of both facial skin care and body care for a more holistic approach.

Urbanveda never include parabens, SLS, GMO’s or artificial colours in its products. They never test on animals and use PCR recycled bottles.

I’ve tried two of the Urbanveda products:

Radiance Replenishing Night Creme – £14.99 (50ml)

Radiance-Replenishing-Night-Cream-200x200This is what the product says: Brimming with phytonutrients and antioxidants, our bioactive infusion is enriched with an anti-inflammatory peptide sequence to impart a luminosity to skin, helping to balance tone and correct signs of hyperpigmentation. Deeply moisturising bio-oils are combined with Ayurvedic extracts to boost collagen production and skin elasticity, leaving you to wake with plump, youthful, hydrated skin.

This is my experience: The cream has a very pleasant silky soft texture; light but pampering, and a little goes a long way. The scent is not what I expected – which is not necessarily a bad thing. It is the first more natural creme I have used that has a distinctively different scent to it. Most natural products tend to have a fresh, herby, zesty scent; this cream has a more powdery scent, more sweet – reminds me a bit of Cacharel’s LouLou. It took me a day or two to fully appreciate it, but I must say that it has really grown on me and I really love what it does to my state of mind when I put it on in the evening: I feel pampered and more relaxed. Honestly. Maybe the Ayurvedic influence? As for the results it promises, I can’t really say yet, I’ve used it for over a week now which is clearly not enough to see real results. I can say however that my skin does feel soft and hydrated.

Reviving Daily Facial Wash – £8.99 (150ml)

daily-revving-facial-wash-200x200This is what the product says: A synergy of flower waters and Omega-rich bio-oils to rehydrate dry skin, replenish and revive, this enriching facial wash contains organic botanical extracts and clarifying essential oils, traditionally used to help enhance balance and tone. Skin is left nourished and pampered.

This is my experience: A lovely sweet smelling face wash that does the trick. A pleasure to use in the morning in the shower.

All in all, I would definitely recommend Urbanveda. Another piece of evidence that there is absolutely no need to put nasty chemicals on your face and body.
