header_03Sherpa Adventure Gear originates from Nepal and was set up by Tashi Sherpa who’s friend Tenzing Norgay was the Sherpa who assisted Sir Edmund Hillary’s ascent to the summit of Mount Everest. Both became the first climbers to reach the summit in 1953. Hillary following his ascent of Everest devoted most of his life to helping the Sherpa people of Nepal through the Himalayan Trust, which he founded. Upon discovering that his friend assisted Sir Edmund Hillary’s summit of Everest Tashi Sherpa founded Sherpa Adventure Gear in 2003, to honour the Sherpa people and create the best quality outdoor apparel made in Nepal.

The company produces 90% of it’s product in Nepal which has a massive influence in helping the Nepalese communities. Stat wise it employs 1,100 women knitters to hand knit their cosy hats, mittens and handwarmers, which are a key selling product for the brand. They produce men’s and women’s outdoor clothing and gear; the quality of the products is absolutely amazing and all of the hats are hand knitted.

1393935509-47985000For men’s it is all about the new Kriti Tech Jacket, a soft-shell jacket that acts like a breathable, water and wind-resistant second skin. The fabric is stretchy and soft, and the fit is meant to be close, so there’s no flap or drag to slow you down. Elbows are articulated to refine the fit, and center front zip is asymmetrical from chest to chin for comfort.

With grasslands surrounded by high mountains, the weather in Lithang can change in a heartbeat. When it does, you want to be wearing this jacket. It combines the best qualities of waterproof hard shells and breathable, stretchy soft shells—making it a terrific choice for active sports like hiking, skiing and climbing.

Sherpa Adventure Gear is sold in Snow&Rock, Cotswold Outdoor, Ellis Brigham and all of the principal outdoors outlets.
