Richmond running festival

This weekend, I took part in the Richmond half marathon to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The course was beautiful and I would recommend it.

I’m really glad that I managed to run it in 2 hours and 14 minutes. Running a half marathon is a great achievement but I think I will be giving myself a break from running for a while.

Here are my top tips:

  • Before your race – Run three times a week. One 10k, two 5k.
  • The week before your race – Add complex carbohydrates like potatoes and brown pasta to your diet.
  • The morning of your race – Eat a good bowl of porridge to fill you up.
  • During your race – Make use of water stops or take a bottle of water.
  • After your race – Stretch well to heal your muscles and rest.

Research where you can take part in a half marathon and get running.
